Angela T. is a single mother of two. “My son Wayne is 16 and Angelique is 10. When my daughter was a year old she was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. At the time I was working for the Chicago Transit Authority, but when she became ill I had to quit my job and take care of her full time. I have to carry her to the bathroom, give her a bath and dress her. I have a back injury due to having to carry her so much but that hasn't stopped me because I have to do what I have to do for my kids. Wayne helps out a lot with Angelique whenever I need him to and is very big help to me. He enjoys spending time with her as well. I am now unemployed since 2001 and it has been hard. At times I just want to give up but God and my kids keep me going. There are things that I am not able to do for them like take them places that other kids go. I depend on other people to transport my child to doctor’s appointments. It is very hard being a single parent of two one with Cerebral Palsy and unemployed. Any type of help will be appreciated.
