Trudy P.’s daughter Renee (32) contacted GiveLocally.net searching for assistance for her brother James. James was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor in 2004 when he was 14, and she had to quit her job as ahome health aide to become his primary caregiver. He received radiation, chemotherapy and finally brain surgery. The doctors told his family he would be in the hospital for five days; however he was hospitalized for two years. James is now 22 years old, but cognitively impaired due to complications related to the surgery and he will never be able to live independently. Trudy’s husband, Mike, was recently involved in an accident that totaled their car. They no longer carried Collision insurance because it was an older model car, so they received just a couple hundred of dollars from selling it as scrap metal. Although Mike, who is 66, is employed, his income is barely enough to make ends meet. This family has been left without dependable transportation to get James to his doctor appointments and therapy. They need financial assistance to help get another car so that James can get the medical support that is so vital to his health. They also need assistance with medical and utility bills.
