Ryan M. is a construction worker. In November of 2010, his stomach ruptured. He was given a 0-5 percent chance of survival. The doctors placed him in a medically sedated coma for over 3 months, during which time he also suffered failure of all his organs and was placed on dialysis. He currently has only 20% kidney function and must have additional surgeries to close and reattach the muscles on his abdomen. “When I was brought out of the coma, I suffered loss of both of my legs which I have not regained. I was in the hospital for 6 months, and still face more surgery to close my surgery site in my abdomen. I have an income of under $700.00 a month, and my expenses have become compounded because on 11/3/2011 my mother died so I have had to try to keep her bills paid and come up with the funds to probate her small estate. This situation has added another expense on top of my doctor visits. I am looking for a wheelchair that is lightweight and something that I can maneuver in and out of a vehicle on my own, but have found them to be way out of my price range. My main need is getting a lightweight wheelchair and medical supplies for wound care. I also need help to keep up with the mortgage and am in need of medically adaptive clothing, to meet my current abilities. I hope GiveLocally and the Givers can help me with this. God bless”.
They need: $1500 for lightweight wheelchair; $1500 for medical supplies/adaptive clothing; $1500 for mortgage assistance
