Lisa M. has always worked until her son Cody (6) exhibited serious mental health behaviors that could not be managed in any daycare program or home. Although she had worked all of her life, her last employer was unable to keep her position open for her because she was called away from work so often to care for Cody. Unfortunately, Lisa's health has also taken a significant nose-dive over the past year and she is trying desperately to avoid multiple surgeries. If she is laid up, there is no one to care for Cody. Lisa's rent has just gone up to $700. Her car payment is $350/month and, without the car, she would be unable to get to medical appointments, etc. Her unemployment benefits have run out, and she is awaiting a decision from the Social Security Disability program regarding her request for benefits for herself. If she is approved, she will be able to "make it" on her own, although things will be tight. Lisa and Cody are now in a situation where they cannot afford the rent and face being homeless. All other known resources have been looked into and the sad fact is that agencies who usually can help under these sorts of circumstances simply do not have the funds to do so, even though Lisa is eligible. Cody is being raised by a strong, loving mother who provides for her son's complicated emotional needs, and they desperately need temporary financial assistance in order to ward off certain disaster.
They need: $1500 in rent assistance; $1000 in bill assistance; $500 for basic needs
