Josie M. is the unemployed mother of two "beautiful and smart children" -- Adam (6) and Bianca (7). Prior to becoming unemployed over the last 3 years, Josie worked in the medical field. "But since I only have entry level experience it has been very hard to get a job. My only means of income is child support and after paying rent, I am left with $300 a month. I am on a wait list for childcare for both my children. I cannot afford to pay childcare out of pocket. I never thought that I would be in such a hard place in my life. I am a great believer that great things come when you least expect them. I have conquered having to have a hysterectomy due to medical condition and difficult living situations. I take care of my children and stay positive for them. I know eventually life has to get better. I have decided to return to school since the medical field will always be in demand. I will be starting school for the LVN program. I am in desperate need to make a better life for my two children. After financial aid, I must pay $250 or so out of my own pocket monthly for tuition. This doesn't include parking and gas, as well as keeping my old Honda in good condition to run. I will not be able to pay my cell phone anymore. This will make living much harder. Although I struggle daily for gas money, car repairs, food, clothing, and peace of mind, I do believe I will be a great nurse."
They need: $500 in tuition assistance; $500 in bill assistance; $500 for basic needs
