Stephanie W. is a 29 year old single mother of Angelina, age 10. She works full time in a real estate company while also attending school full time to pursue her BSN in Nursing. She does not qualify for any assistance, nor does she receive any child support. "So I work hard to provide for my family. Unfortunately, over the past couple of years things have not been easy. My hours were cut, and bills started to fall behind. The car I had was repossessed, and I had to gather up a couple hundred to get a car to take my daughter and I where we needed to go. I ended up getting several tickets. I got my license suspended and owing the Department of Revenue. They have just started garnishing my checks, 10% a check. On a single income, without any assistance, this can guarantee us to lose everything. The car broke down, and I sold it for a couple hundred to pay for public transportation. I can barely make it to my daughter’s school in time, and I am constantly late for work. I had some medical issues hit me. I was out of work for almost two weeks with surgery and doctors' appointments. I am behind on my rent $450, and my electric $345. I barely can keep groceries in the house right now to keep my daughter fed. I am trying my hardest to make it through these tough times, but it almost seems that it is impossible right now. I feel hopeless. I have an entire family depending on me to provide for them, and I know that one day things will get better."
They need: $1000 rent assistance; $500 utilities; $500 basic necessities
