Leslie is a single mother of Alex (16) who was born at 26 weeks and suffers from several health issues, including Autism, Asthma, no vision in his right eye, Cowden's Syndrome, Developmental Delay, low muscle tone, and bronchial pulmonary dysplasia. “My son is my hero and you would never know how much he has been through. I never let Alex see me cry or be upset about our financial situation. He teaches me to smile each day and never sweat the small stuff. I was told that Alex would never come home, Alex will never go to school, eat on his own, breathe on his own, talk etc. Alex is doing all the above.” They live on $674 a month with no child support. “Our home is the only home we know and love; having autism, routine is mandatory. Alex’s SSI check goes to everyday living needs bills and for Alex's special foods. As a mom who used to be able to work it breaks my heart. All of Alex's clothes are getting too short (arms and legs). We sleep in the same bed because Alex's bed was ruined and my dream is that he gets his own full size bed and then one day I can get another one because the one we sleep in is almost ruined. Alex needs a spring jacket; I can't even imagine where that will come from. Any help and prayers would be so much appreciated!
