Laura is a grandparent who has adopted her grandsons to save them from a life of abuse and neglect. The oldest (8) is in the autism spectrum. He and his younger brother (7) both have issues relating to their early lives and are in therapy. "They have become my world and I love them more than life. Since adopting them I have become disabled. I am now in a wheelchair and cannot stand or walk. I can no longer work so I have had to learn to live on a very limited income from Social Security. The last year has been a nightmare, but through the grace of God and help from GiveLocally we have persevered and I am very thankful. Sadly, I was told that my leg needed to be amputated, but now the physicians want to try one more type of treatment before such a drastic measure. I am also becoming desperate for help for my grandsons. The oldest one’s feet are coming out of the soles of his shoes and the youngest one only has flip flops. As you can imagine, seeing them like this breaks my heart. God bless and thank you for reading my request.”
