Deone, a single mother of a 13 year old son, suffers from serious Diabetes that will likely result in the amputation of both feet in the near future. As a result of her illness, she has also had kidney and back problems. She has difficulty moving around, cannot enjoy a normal active life, and is unable to work. The most poignant aspect of Deone’s life situation is that she was forced to put her 13 year old son in foster care a short time until her condition improves. Update: Deone’s son will return from foster care in a few months. Deone's main concern is that she has enough food and a way to easily move around so that she can better interact with and take care of her son. She hopes that through GiveLocally, she can obtain assistance with purchasing a scooter-chair that will allow her to move around once her feet are amputated. She also needs assistance buying groceries.
