Amy C. is a lifelong Alaskan single mother of 4 year old Jace. She recently separated from her husband and has fallen into difficult financial times. " At this moment I have no income , savings or a vehicle. After being temporarily homeless me and my son have moved into our own place. It’s not been easy to explain a four year old why we still have very little furniture or a vehicle while I'm struggling to supply even the basics. I tell him , sometimes good things fall apart so that other good things can fall together. We are currently behind on rent and our gas has been shot off . With winter months in Alaska right around the corner, relying on the bus to get my son to daycare and me to find work it is going to be hard. I suffer from Raynaud's Syndrome a condition where little or no blood flows to my fingers or toes when subjected to any cold it can also be exacerbated by prolonged periods of stress. The skin on my hands and feet turns white causing numbness, tingling, throbbing and burning sensations. Having our own transportation will help us tremendously, it will allow more time together as a family and less time in the cold trying to keep my fingers from burning or going numb. I am striving to become overcome my financial setbacks and complete my education on the medical field so that I may provide a wonderful future for my son. I want to thank GiveLocally for this opportunity”.

Donald S., his wife and son, Taylor (20), were hit with an F5 tornado. Their home sustained major damage and insurance only paid a tiny fraction of the $240,000 in estimated damage. "We lost everything, including photos, clothing, all the things that we had purchased with so much effort. Today we have no driveway, no outside building and 20 stumps in yard. I was also recently laid off from a job as a butcher at a local super market after doing this type of job for 25 years. I only draw $209 each week. My wife is a nurse and makes $240 each month. Our power bill is $375 each month, our water bill is $750. I also had a fall of 25 feet where I broke my back, leg, arm and ribs. I suffer from a lot of pain as a result, and my pain medications are very expensive. My son,Taylor, has a part time job at the same super market where I used to work, and he tries his best to help us with bills and to get daily food. There are weeks we don’t have food money. Please help us through these hard times. Thank you very much." Update: Their house is still damaged and they still do not have the income to fix it.
Elizabeth M. is 24 years old and engaged to Paul, 40 years old. They have a 6 year old daughter named Lily , and a 3 month old named Emma."My fiancee works a full time job at the factory nearby. I am a stay at home mom and a full time college student online studying for my bachelor's in child development psychology. At this point in time, we are definitely drowning financially. I had Emma on April 9th. The following weekend my transmission went out in my car for the second time in less than a year. It took us 6 months to finally get it running again. The very next weekend after my car broke down, our house caught on fire. Luckily the only things damaged were a wall, electrical wire, and our washer and dryer. With Paul's income we also support my parents who are in a worst spot than we are. My father has been looking for a job for a year now with no luck. At the end of the day if I have to get a full time job and quit school and take care of my kids I will do it. Paul is very supportive and is working so hard for this not to happen. I wish that through GiveLocally we can find some caring hearts that will help us with this situation, I know that as soon I am done with school I can get a job and help my husband and give my kids the life they deserve. Thank you for reading my situation and God bless all at this organization".
